During 2010 the operation of the 15 gaming casinos, regulated by Law N°19.995, diminished due to the earthquake that took place on February 27th, 2010 in the central and southern zones of Chile, this affected 9 of the 15 casinos in different range magnitudes, which implied that the damaged casinos accumulated approximately 499 days without operating, which represents 10% of the total operating period planned under normal conditions.
In order to carry out a comparison between the gross income generated during 2009 and 2010, that eliminate the effects and consequences of the earthquake, we have considered necessary to adjust said yearly gross income, using as a base, the number of actual operating days during each of the periods, which determines a daily gross income per period. An increase of 25,4% in gross income is observed by the indusrty between the years 2009 and 20101, considering the earthquake{s effects on the industry, due to the fact that during 2010 there were more operating days, more visitors and the averga amount spent also increased. Aproximately, the effects of the earthquake could be calculated as the non-operating days due to theearthquake multiplied by the amount of dalily gross income for 2010.
