Glossary
A
Auxiliary Services:
Services that complement operation of games of chance established in the operation license, directly operated by the operating company or third parties, such as, restaurants, bars, show or event rooms, and foreign exchange.
B
Bet Plan:
Minimum and maximum bet values authorized by the SCJ to be applied in each of the games of chance of the casino. It also establishes specific conditions, such as, contribution percentages for each of game prizes and progressive pools in the case of bingo.
Bet:
Value of chips played.
Bingo Win:
Total amount collected from all played plays after deducting prizes won by gamblers and pertinent pool amount. It results from multiplying bingo commission percentage authorized by this Superintendence for the casino by total collected.
Bingo:
It is one of the five categories of games of chance as established in the Game Catalogue of the SCJ and authorized to be commercially operated inside casinos. It consists of matching numbers drawn from a drawing machine against those printed in a previously purchased cardboard ticket.
Burning cards:
Placing one or more cards out of game in the basket.

Cards:
It is one of the five game categories as established in the Game Catalogue of the SCJ and authorized to be commercially operated inside casinos.
Casino:
Facilities, building, or part of a building consisting of closed premises inside which authorized games of chance are developed, bets are received, corresponding prizes are paid, and related services are operated.
Closed Card:
A card with its back upwards.
Croupier:
Member of the casino staff who is in charge of directing the game, dealing the cards, and controlling the bets.
Cutting:
Separating the deck of cards in a certain place using a plastic sheet called divider.
D
Deck:
A pack of cards made up by 52 units.
Dice:
It is one of the five game categories established in the Game Catalogue of the SCJ as authorized to be commercially operated inside casinos.
Discard:
Cards that will not be used in the game.
Discarded Card Container or Basket:
A container used to put the cards already used in the game.
Discarded Cards:
Cards already used in the game.
Drop of Slot Machines:
Total amount of money deposited in each machine stacker, considering the amount in cash plus the amount of betted tickets.
Drop of Tables:
Total amount of money deposited in each game table stacker, considering money used by the players to exchange chips and/or valued vouchers.

Game Catalogue:
The official record of games of chance that can de developed in casinos. They are divided into five categories: roulette, cards, dice, slot machines, and bingo. It is prepared and managed by the SCJ.
Game Gross Income or Win:
Corresponding to the sum of game table gross incomes from game tables, slot machines, and bingo, in which such gross collection is the difference between the opening and closing value, considering applicable additions or deductions.
Game Room:
Each of the premises of a casino where games of chance authorized in the operation license are developed.
Game VAT:
Value added tax equivalent to 19% of total game gross income or win.
Games of Chance Operation License:
A permit granted by the pertinent authority to operate games of chance as permitted by law or its regulations, which is untransferable and unzeisable.
Games of Chance:
Such games which results do not exclusively depend on players’ skills, but essentially on chance or hazard, and that are listed in the respective regulation and recorded in the Game Catalogue issued by the Superintendence.
Gross Income Base for Gambling Tax (BI - Base ingreso bruto):
Tax Base allowing calculating specific gambling tax every month. It is obtained subtracting gross income of the game without the VAT from the Provisional Mandatory Monthly Payment (PPM - Pago Provisional Obligatorio Mensual).
Gross Incomes without the VAT (IBSI - Ingresos Brutos sin IVA):
Total game gross income or win value after deducting the amount corresponding to the value added tax (VAT) equivalent to 19%.

Hand:
Individual player’s play.
Hold or Withholding Percentage:
Indicator providing the withholding percentage or profits of the casino, and that result from dividing the win by the drop.
Homologation Record:
List of game implements expressly authorized by the Superintendence for development of games of chance inside casinos.
I
Inventory, Initial Balance, Initial Enabling, or Opening Value:
Amount of money corresponding to chips used to open a game table.
Invitation Tickets:
Corresponding to tickets which cost is assumed by the casino and that are provided complimentarily or as an invitation to the customers.
J
Jackpots:
The amount of money of jackpots or big prizes, either from progressive prize pools or not, which are defined from a minimum prize amount established by the casino, and that must be communicated to the Superintendence.

Law No. 19.995:
Body of laws establishing general bases for authorization, operation, and supervision of casinos in Chile.
M
Maximum Pass:
Situation arising when minimum amount of mandatory cards has been dealt to each gambler in a pass.
Monthly Mandatory Provisional Payment (PPM - Pago Provisional Obligatorio Mensual):
The amount resulting from multiplying gross incomes without VAT by PPM %.

Open Card:
A card allowing seeing its number or motif.
Operation License:
Authorization granted by the State through the Superintendence to operate a casino, including game and related service licenses.
Operator or Operating Company:
Commercial company authorized to operate a casino as the holder of an operation permit for a 15-year period pursuant to the provisions contained in the law.

Pack of Cards:
Pre-established amount of cards for the game.
Pass or play:
Game process that begins when placing the bet and that ends with the result of the game.
Payment by Mistake:
Corresponding to the amount of money of payments that are not generated by the slot machine, that is, issued manually due to machine errors or failures not allowing issuing the ticket out or not allowing to credit the prize in the card.
PPM Percentage:
Percentage of the Monthly Provisional Payment which value is determined by the Internal Revenue Service.

Refill or Replacement:
Amount of money corresponding to chips that are brought from the main cash in order to replace the chip inventory during table operation.
Refund:
Amount of money corresponding to the chips withdrawn from a game table and taken back to the main cash during operation.
Return to Customers as a Prize:
Corresponding to the ratio between total prizes won and total amount betted by customers in slot machines.
Roulette:
It is one of the five game categories established in the Game Catalogue of the SCJ authorized to be commercially operated inside casinos. This is a game of chance mainly consisting of gamblers placing bets against the casino, and the chance of hitting the numbers defined in the felt-cloth table is obtained from the last spin of a ball moving inside a rotary horizontal wheel called roulette.

Slot Machine Win:
In machines operated with bills and TITO system (Ticket In - Ticket Out), this value is obtained when adding cash and ticket in amount, subtracting amounts corresponding to tickets out, jackpots, payments by mistake, and total pool variation amount. In machines operated with bills and gaming cards, this value is obtained by adding cash and ticket in amount, subtracting amounts corresponding to tickets out, jackpots, payments by mistake, and total pool variation amount.
Slot machines:
One of the five game categories established in the Game Catalogue of the SCJ authorized to be commercially operated inside casinos. The Game Catalogue defines slot machines as any mechanic, electronic, electro-mechanic or electric machine, or any other machine that is otherwise operated, which – in exchange of a betted value – eventually allows winning a prize, and that includes or comprises any component of chance – either in its program and/or operation mechanisms – affecting results obtained by the player.
Specific Game Tax:
Tax paid by casinos equivalent to 20% of game gross income. It must be applied to gross income obtained from authorized game operation, following deduction of the Value Added Tax (VAT) amount and the amount used for provisional mandatory payments (PPM).
Stackers:
Money validating boxes located inside each slot machine. They have a bill accepter intended to validate and store bills and tickets introduced by gamblers.
Supervisory Authority:
The Superintendence of Casinos (SCJ) is the public entity in charge of regulating and supervising management and operation of casinos pursuant to the provisions contained in Law No. 19.995.

Table Win:
Value obtained by adding the amount of money connected to chips with which the table is closed (final inventory or balance), refunds regarding chips, and drop (value deposit or count); subtracting the amount of money corresponding to refill or replacement regarding chips, and the amount of money regarding chips used to open the table (initial inventory or balance, or initial enabling, or opening value).
Theoretical Hold:
Theoretical profit percentage of the casino which is the complement of the percentage refunded to the player. For example, if 89.5% is the percentage programmed in the machine for player refund, then the theoretical hold percentage is 10.5%.
Ticket in:
Corresponding to the amount of money connected to the tickets introduced to the slot machine by the gamblers. In case of using gaming cards, it corresponds to the amount of money connected to game credit of cards introduced to the slot machine.
Ticket out:
Corresponding to the amount of money connected to the tickets thrown out by the machine when gamblers decide to leave the machine or when prize payment is generated. When using gaming cards, it corresponds to the amount of money connected to balances or credit remainders to gamble or to exchange for cash, as obtained when gamblers withdraw the card from the slot machine.
Ticket Tax:
Tax equivalent to 0.07 UTM to be withheld by operators per each person who enter the casino.
Tickets:
Corresponding to the tickets directly paid by the public or customers coming in to casinos.
To Hit:
Asking for an additional card to the croupier by the player.
To Shuffle:
Mixing cards randomly for the game.
To Stick:
Not asking for any other additional cards to the croupier.
Total Final Pool:
The closing amount of money per gambling day that must be equal to the initial pool amount of the day after connected to the games involved in progressive prize pools. This amount corresponds to the total initial pool plus daily contributions made by the players who bet in progressive pool slot machines, less these pool prizes awarded on the same day.
Total in / tickets:
In slot machines operating with bills and with the Ticket In - Ticket Out (TITO) system, it corresponds to the amount of money of credits generated by tickets in and introduced bills plus credits won when gambling, all of which are effectively betted. In machines operated with bills and gaming cards, it corresponds to the amount of money of credits generated by tickets in and introduced bills plus credits won when gambling, all of which are effectively betted.
Total Initial Pool:
Total opening or start amount of money per gambling day connected to the games involved in progressive prize pools, which must be equivalent to the final pool amount of the day before.
Total Pool Variation:
The difference between total final pool and total initial pool, indicating the amount of money rose for the period.
Total Tickets:
Sum of tickets provided as an invitation plus those paid by the customer.

Wager:
Number of chips betted by the player. See also “Bet”.
Win:
Game gross incomes.
