During 2009 up until January 2010 the gaming income showed a growth tendency, basically due to the new operating gaming facilities that opened towards the end of 2009, the total number of operating days, as well as the number of visitors and average amount spent also increased.
Nonetheless, this growth tendencies shows a sudden decrease during February of 2010 and March of the same year reaching a decrease of the income in 44,6%, which is explained mainly because of the closing of the casinos in the regions of Valparaíso, O´Higgins, Maule and Biobío, whose facilities were damaged by the earthquake of February 27th, 2010.
Subsequently, from March to June 2010, the growth tendency once again shows an increase, as the damaged casinos begin to reopen their facilities and began operating again. During July of 2010, the gaming gross income increases considerably in relation to the previous month, 80,4%, due to the reincorporation of two of the largest casinos of the industry, Monticello Grand Casino and Marina del Sol. Finally, by the beginning of July, the growth rate returns to normal.
